Kafa Biosphere Reserve

This UNESCO-protected biosphere reserve is a green paradise located in southwestern Ethiopia. The region is known for its dense wild coffee forests and immense wildlife diversity, offering excellent hiking, birdwatching, and sightseeing opportunities. For nature and coffee lovers, this destination is a must! The best time to experience Kafa is during the dry season from October to April.

Bonga, the region’s capital, is easily accessible from the neighboring city of Jimma by local transportation (2–3 hours by minibus) and has several hotels and guesthouses, including  Hotel Shalome details below.
